She attended Spring Arbor University and received her Bachelors of Arts in Family Life Education; a model which builds a stronger  community by fostering partnerships that engage families in a participatory process leading to self-efficacy. As a vibrant and passionate soul Rebekah is always striving to “be the change”.

Our team comprises dedicated staff and volunteers who are committed to serving our community through programming and use of the Center.

Each team member brings unique talents, strengths, and gifts to share with the program and are encouraged to grow both personally and professionally within the inherently nurturing and empowering environment of our organization.

BEATRIZ CRUZ

Hola, my name is Beatriz Cruz and I have lived in Leelanau County for over 30 years. I moved here with my family in the early 90s from Brownsville, Texas. My husband and I now have a family which includes 3 boys and we reside in Suttons Bay where we have a painting/drywall business.

My love for this county has driven me to serve my community in different capacities. I started my work in the county as a Home Visitor for Parenting Communities aimed to serve our Spanish speaking families in 2006. I remained in this role until 2013 when I transitioned
into the school system. Since then, I have been at Suttons Bay schools as their EL / Migrant Specialist, as well as employed by TBAISD as their Liaison for our migrant population. As a former migrant child who came to this community, I feel it’s important to support our migrant
community that gives so much to us in a short period that they are in our area. I will continue to advocate for our community in any way possible to help us all learn, grow and work together.
